Mai Marathi
Sanstha, had identified a group of women who had the desire to get
self-employed. We therefore, arranged a
Motivational Campaign to give them idea about self-employment
opportunities in October 2004. Around 70 women participated in this
programme.
Later in March, 2007, 46 women from the above
group were imparted training. Mai Marathi Sanstha, approached
Ministry of Small Scale Industries, Govt. of India, and requested
them to train this group under their 'Entrepreneurship / Skill
Development Programme'. These ladies were trained in skills such as
manufacture of Rexine Items like bags, pouches, purses, handbags,
carry bags etc. Manufacture of other fancy products such as Perfume,
Agarbatti, artificial flowers, etc. The course was of 40 days
duration, which included theory and practical sessions, apart from
lectures on managing enterprises, marketing, salesmantsip etc. After
the programme, Government Certificates were awarded to the trainees.
After this training programme, out of 46
participants, 25 ladies have started ir own enterprises on micro
level. Out of these 25 ladies, 12 women came together to form a
Cooperative Society by the name Shivgiri Udyogini Mandal. They are
now in the process of registering their Cooperative. Mai Marathi
been instrumental in providing these women entrepreneurs all kind of
support.

groups to start their own self-employment ventures.
